Here are a selection of the questions Barney gets asked which aren't all about sport... Favourite Food?: Flapjack Favourite drink?: CocaCola You had a job prior to becoming a full time athlete, what did you do?: I was a Building Inspector at East Dorset District Council and prior to that worked for Mitie Contracts as a surveyor, which was my first job after college. Do you follow any other sports apart from Cycling?: Yes I am a footy fan and have a season ticket at Manchester United. What is the hardest thing you have ever done?: Deloitte Ride Across Britain, I did the whole thing in 2011 and there were days when I wondered whether I was actually going to finish the stage! You grew up on the south coast of England did you spend a lot of time at the beach when you were younger?: Yes, it was one area I used to really like going. The only thing I wish I could move to Manchester is the beach! What do you like most about living where you do now?: I live on the edge of the Peak District and we have amazing views over to the Pennines. On a clear day you can see for miles and I will never get tired of seeing this view outside our front door! Is it true you have played at Wembley?: Yes! I was a member of a marching band and we played at the British Youth Band National Championships at the Wembley Arena in 1988 What is your speciality when you do the cooking?: Spaghetti Bolognaise! Any injuries through sport?: I broke my wrist whilst playing football, I was playing in goal and came out to save a ball and someone trod on my arm. In cycling the tandem crash we had 10 days prior to Beijing in 2008 caused me quite a few problems with my right elbow and even now it still clicks and niggles. Any places in the world you would like to visit but haven't done yet?: I would love to go on safari and see more of Australia and New Zealand. We had our honeymoon in Canada and I would love to go back and visit some of the parts that we didn't have time to get to, like Whistler. If you had a super power what would it be and why? To come up with a cure for insulin dependent diabetes. I have been an insulin dependent diabetic since I was four years old. I would also want to find a cure for similiar diseases that affect people's lives. Favourite TV programme?: Match Of The Day! Favourite Movie?: Star Wars Triology Top tips?: Determination is everything, never give up. Best piece of advice you have been given?: Never be afraid to ask a question.
